Toshiba America Information Systems Inc. Telecommunication Systems Division (www.toshiba.com) has announced the launch of its enhanced Video Communication Solution (VCS) 2.0 for its Strata CIX family of VoIP business-communication systems. VCS provides affordable point-to-point (P2P) videoconferencing, desktop/application sharing, file transfer, and message-board capabilities for up to three parties. VCS 2.0 brings video telephony to Toshiba?s full line of telephones and endpoints, including Strata IP desk telephones, Toshiba digital telephones, and Toshiba SoftIPT softphones. Features include full integration with the Strata CIS system, integrated video telephony functionality, a collaboration console to share desktops, applications, or documents, and a text-message board.

AudioCodes Adds Video Capabilities into IPmedia

AudioCodes (www.audiocodes.com) has added video capabilities into its IPmedia family of IMS-compliant media servers. The newly introduced capabilities will enable service providers and network equipment providers the ability to provide integrated video and audio services such as video conferencing, video messaging over multimedia messaging service (MMS), and downloading of video clips and content. It will also offer person-to-person and service-to-person video streaming of content, among other potential applications. IPmedia Video supports transcoding, transrating/bit rate adaptation, video resizing, and video mixing of industry-standard video codecs including MPEG4/H.263.

AT&T and Microsoft Announce Live Meeting Web Conference Service For Businesses

AT&T (www.att.com) and Microsoft (www.microsoft.com) have announced the availability of AT&T Live Meeting, a hosted Web conferencing service enabling users to communicate and collaborate in real time with a personal computer, an Internet connection, and a telephone. AT&T Live Meeting uses Microsoft Connected Services Framework, a server-based product for building and managing complex services using SOA and Web-services interfaces. It is capable of broadcasting visuals of any type, including presentations and commonly used document types, to remote participants in real time, and no additional software or hardware needs to be installed. Anyone with Internet access, a standard browser, and a telephone can participate in a teleconference. The solution is built on a security-enhanced AT&T platform, which includes such features as always-on SSL encryption, strong password policies and 128-bit encryption, SAS70-certified data centers, and security-enhanced communication across firewalls.
